Privacy policy
Last updated 11 October 2026. This is written to be read, not skimmed past. The short version: your courses stay on your computer, and fabo's service only knows your email and how much AI you've used.
Who is responsible
[To be filled in before launch: the name of the person or company behind fabo, and a contact email.]
What stays on your computer
- Everything fabo downloads from Canvas: syllabus, pages, assignments, files.
- Your notes, chats, flashcards, quizzes, study guides and practice exams.
- Your Canvas access key, stored encrypted, with the encryption key in your Mac's Keychain.
The website you are reading sets no cookies and has no analytics or trackers.
What fabo's service stores
Only if you make a fabo account:
- Your email address, to sign you in with a code.
- How much AI you have used each month: counts of tokens, the cost, and the number of requests. This is how your monthly allowance works.
- Your plan (free for now) and when the account was made.
fabo's service does not store your questions, the answers, or your course files.
What passes through when you use fabo's AI
When you ask a question, the AI reads the course files you have allowed and sends the parts it needs, together with your question, to answer. With fabo's own AI these go through fabo's service to Anthropic, which produces the answer. fabo does not keep them; Anthropic's own terms and retention rules apply to what it receives. If you use your own Claude or ChatGPT subscription instead, that traffic goes to your own provider under your own account, and not through fabo.
Who we use to run this
- Supabase: accounts, sign-in and the usage counts.
- Resend: sending the sign-in code to your inbox.
- Anthropic: the AI behind fabo's own AI.
- Cloudflare: serves this website.
Canvas
When you sign in to Canvas in the app, you type your password into your school's own login page, not into fabo. fabo then asks Canvas for an access key named "fabo" and keeps only that key. You can delete it in Canvas under Account, Settings, Approved Integrations. fabo reads only what your account can already see.
Your rights
You can ask to see, correct or delete the data fabo's service holds about you, and deleting your account removes your email and usage counts. Contact the address above. If you think we handle your data wrongly, you can complain to the Swedish Authority for Privacy Protection (IMY).
Changes
If this changes in a way that matters, the date at the top changes too, and the app's release notes say so.
